Going somewhere…….

“Everything is flowing — going somewhere, animals and so- called lifeless rocks as well as water. Thus the snow flows fast or slow in grand beauty-making glaciers and avalanches; the air in majestic floods carrying minerals, plant leaves, seeds, spores, with streams of music and fragrance; water streams carrying rocks… While the stars go streaming through space pulsed on and on forever like blood…….

in Nature’s warm heart.”

~John Muir

two eternities…….

The meeting of two eternities, the past and future….is precisely the present moment.

The Mountain is out today……….

The Mountain is out today……….

She is the welcoming sight of home….Like some mysterious lover, she hides within the thickness of dark grey clouds….for the long and dreary stretches of winter days ….. She knows, she can make your heart sing with joy……when she comes out.

Celebration

Brilliant, this day – a young virtuoso of a day.
Morning shadow cut by sharpest scissors,
deft hands. And every prodigy of green –
whether it’s ferns or lichens or needles
or impatient points of buds on spindly bushes –
greener than ever before. And the way the conifers
hold new cones to the light for the blessing,
a festive right, and sing the oceanic chant the wind
transcribes for them!
A day that shines in the cold
like a first-prize brass band swinging along
the street
of a coal-dusty village, wholly at odds
with the claims of reasonable gloom.

Art of the Architecture

Art of the Architecture

By the light of the Moon

Like all large metropolitan cities, Seattle has it’s darker side, at ground level the beauty seems, in constant competition with the unsavory, usually your attitude decides who wins.

And, like many other things in life, we only see what we focus on…On this day…my focus was on UP….to the buildings, to the clear blue sky and on this day….Beauty Wins.

The Cobb Building, downtown Seattle (my personal favorite) is regarded as one of Seattle’s finest buildings in the Beaux Arts mode.  The facade features large terra cotta cartouches incorporating a stylized Indian chief’s face in full headdress. These are attributed to craftsman Victor Schneider and were supposedly inspired by the photography of Edward S. Curtis.

Moon Sound

Moon Sound

Sound, Ship and Skyline

From a cozy spot on Alki Beach..looking across Puget Sound..as Seattle winds down from the hustle and bustle of its busy day…..occasionally, if the skies are clear and you are lucky enough in being there, on a certain evening….MAGIC HAPPENS!

Bothell Landing

These photographs were taken in late summer last year.  The city of Bothell did a very nice job on the park renovation.

The foot bridge leading from Bothell Landing Park, across the Sammamish River to the Bert Gilman Trail….SWEET!!

The Sammamish River….is so peaceful…not very wide
but very scenic…
the Bert Gilman Trail follows the river from Redmond through Bothell…an enormous abundance of
bird life and natural habitats.
